Roy was born November 22,193l, to George and Amelia Ruf Norden. He graduated from Crook High School in 1949, where he met his wife, Betty Debus. He farmed with his father and grew sugar beets, beans, corn and alfalfa. He also enjoyed raising cattle and a few calves which kept his family supplied with beef.
Two of Roy's favorite pastimes were fishing and playing cards. Roy never met a stranger and was always ready for a good conversation. Watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports was very special for him. He also played golf when Crook had a golf course. Roy was always ready to have a party with family and friends. One time we had a fire truck visit their home, courtesy of fireman Josh DeSanti. On Roy and Betty’s 70th Anniversary, they rode in a horse drawn carriage. They continued to Polka dance, even after 71 years of marriage.
Roy is survived by his wife Betty of 71 years, children Connie Bixler, Steve Norden, Allen Norden (Lynda), Karen DeSanti (Rocky) and Jennifer Norden (Tony Hess), 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald.
