Obituary of Timothy John Walsh
Timothy John Walsh (Timmy), 68, passed away peacefully August 10, 2023 in Beaverton, Oregon. Tim was born January 15, 1955 in Rochester, New York as the first-born child of Don and Betty Walsh.
Tim attended Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester and graduated from Poudre High School in 1973 after the Walsh family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1971. Tim worked for the Eastman Kodak Company in Windsor, Colorado from 1973 to 1998.
Timmy was big brother to sister Sue and little brother Terry. Many childhood days were spent sledding, building snow forts, playing baseball and football in the street, riding bikes, running through sprinklers, chasing the ice cream truck and playing every board game and card game under the sun. Though he coached us on how to play these games, somehow, Tim ALWAYS won! When his nephews and his niece came into the world, Uncle Tim watched over them too; always there to throw the ball, play games, and keep them safe.
Tim loved baseball, and was a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves, often attending their games.
Tim traveled the world extensively in the 1980’s and 1990’s. He has walked The Great Wall of China, visited the Pyramids of Giza, ascended the summit of The Matterhorn, went north of the Artic Circle, and the list goes on. His favorite country was Switzerland because of the wonderful people and the food.
Timmy loved hanging out with friends and family at Mulligans Pub in Fort Collins. Coors Light was his known beverage of choice and the burritos and burgers were his favorite menu items. Tim was the guy you wanted on your trivia team as he knew stats like no one else. Tim was extremely well read and had a book collection that would rival a bookstore. The humor of The Three Stooges always brought out Tim’s classic chuckle.
In 2015, Tim embarked upon a new adventure, relocating to Oregon with his friend, Jen Phillips. Tim loved the weather in Oregon and had a great time exploring the countryside, the wineries and the coast. Tim was drawn to the ocean, particularly the coastal town of Astoria. Tim’s Oregon family grew when Jen married Michael Brown and their little daughter, Amelia (Ama) Brown was born. “Uncle Timmy” loved little Ama with his whole heart and he would light up when she walked into the room.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Betty Walsh, his infant sister, Mary Walsh and his good friend Michele Cera. Tim is survived by his siblings, Sue Friede (Mike) of Loveland, CO, Terry Walsh (Denise) of Littleton, CO, nephews Tucker Knight and Danny Knight (Kaiya), niece Nicole Walsh (Sydney), great niece Luna Goldenberg-Knight and by his Oregon family, Jennifer and Michael Brown of Hillsboro, OR and their daughter, Amelia (Ama). Tim is also survived and missed by his very special friend and steadfast canine companion, Bailey.
We will celebrate Tim’s life with a burial ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Grandview Cemetery, in Fort Collins, CO. Following the service, we will continue to honor Tim’s life from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at C.B. & Potts at Collindale Golf Course, 1441 E Horsetooth Rd, Fort Collins, CO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made, on Tim’s behalf, to the Larimer County Humane Society at register.larimerhumane.org or 3501 E 71st St, Loveland, CO 80538.
