Obituary of Michael Jason Elizalde
Michael Jason Elizalde, age 38, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2023.
He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Regina Chavez and Rudy Elizalde, on July 15, 1985. He lived his entire life in Fort Collins.
Michael was a gentle man with a huge heart of gold. He touched many people and was loved by many. He was never judgmental and a kind soul, who would do anything for anyone. Michael was known to many as Mike, Mikey or Uncle Mike.
He was an avid Raiders fan, loved watching movies (especially horror movies) and could tell you in detail about any movie and who was in it. He was famous for doing impressions of the characters in the movies. He loved music, his favorite groups and musicians being Kiss, Tupac, Slipknot and Bones, Thugs and Harmony. He was elated when he once met a member of the group and got his autograph. He kept every ticket stub from any concert or event he attended. He had a great time listening to his family and friends' karaoke, occasionally singing his signature song, La Bamba.
Michael loved camping at Chambers Lake, fishing and relished the time he spent with his Uncle David on Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota. Other trips included Arizona, California, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, South Dakota, Ohio and Las Vegas which was a favorite; he liked the nightlife and the casinos.
He enjoyed decorating his house with pictures of wolves, Raiders and Kiss memorabilia, along with horror scenes from movies. He had several tattoos and really loved his tattoo of Michael Myers.
Michael’s most favorite things in life were “chillin” with family and friends. He was a homebody and would spend his free time with friends, watching football games, movies, playing video games, sitting around a campfire and having his favorite food and beverage, a slice of pizza and a shot of tequila. He loved children and spending time with all his younger cousins, attending their sporting events, taking them to a movie or playing Uno or board games with them. He appreciated holidays and getting together with family members.
His many cousins and friends referred to him as their brother or best friend. He listened to people, had a quiet manner, and cared deeply for those he loved. Michael was loyal, a hard worker, caring, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a special person to so many. He will be forever loved, greatly missed and life will not be complete without him.
He is survived by his mother and father (Pops), Regina and Ted Chavez, brother Josh, Grandmother’s Maurelia Chavez, Elvira Elizalde, Uncles David (Shelly), and Dustin (Jillian), Kit, Ray (Connie), Roy, Aunts Mary, Jenne, Anna (Jim), Loretta (Doug), Elsa (Roy), Lila (Pedro), Edna, numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Duane and Connie Snelling and Tom Chavez, Rudy Elizalde Sr. and Jr., Aunt Carol, cousins Jonathen, Jeff, Aiyla and Genevieve.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Michael, on Sunday, September 24th from 1:00 - 3:30 at Windsong Estate Event Center. You are invited to come Raiders style as Michael would love that.
