Obituary of Patricia Ann McGuirk

We regretfully announce the passing of Patricia Ann McGuirk, who passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 28th 2023 at Pathways in Fort Collins. Patricia had a difficult battle with cancer and is finally at rest. She will be forever loved and forever remembered.

Patricia was born September 28^th 1957 to George and Helen Astarita in Mineola, New York. She grew up in a large family with four brothers, and two sisters. She lived in Mineola until she was 15. The family relocated to Smithtown NY following the death of her father. It was in Smithtown where Patricia met the love of her life, Daniel McGuirk of Kings Park NY while at her 17th birthday party. The two were inseparable from that point on. She went on to graduate from Smithtown West in 1975.  She and Dan were married on November 19th 1977.  They came to find Colorado on a road trip through the U.S. on a visit to Pat’s cousin who was working here as a camera man. They eventually moved to Fort Collins in 1978.

Pat and Dan were married for over 45 years and had 3 children Sean, Brian, and Erin. Patricia was a dedicated mom to her three children.  She volunteered in their classes, coached their soccer teams and was even a Den Mother for the cub scouts.  Family came first and was above all else to Patricia, a value she instilled in all those around her. Those who knew Patricia would tell you that she had a very big heart and was very generous. She would always provide for others before herself. Patricia loved all the holidays, especially Christmas. She also loved to cook, craft, and spend time with family and friends. Her favorite role was that as a grandparent. She treasured her time with all three of her grandchildren and loved being their nana, never failing to spoil them. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.

Patricia is preceded in death by her father George, her mother Helen Astarita and her brother George Astarita.  She is survived by her husband Dan McGuirk, her three children, and her three grandchildren, also by her three brothers, and two sisters.
