Obituary of Arthur Romero

Arthur L. (Art) Romero, 84, was born at home on January 9, 1939 in Fort Collins to John & Inez Romero. Art passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 2, 2023.

He attended local schools – Holy Family, Remington, Lincoln Jr High and Fort Collins High.

In 1956, Art enlisted in the Army as a tank driver. In 1959, he met the love of his life, Sarah Trujillo, they were married on November 18, 1961, they were married for 60 years before Sarah passed away on November 19, 2021.

Art worked on a ranch and later for the railroad. In 1963, Art worked concrete for laborer’s local 720 union for 30 years. In 1988, Art worked for the city of Fort Collins until his retirement in 2001.

Art loved fishing, hunting, camping, yardwork, baking and hanging out in his man cave, the garage. He would have friends over and have a few drinks with them in his “man cave”. But most of all he loved being around his family.

Art is preceded in death by his wife Sarah, parents John: Inez, and brothers Johnny and Charles.  

Art is survived by his children Cindy (Fred) Gallegos, Mike (Florinda) Romero, Tony Romero and Jeff (Christine Borgia) Romero. His sibling George Romero, Frances Manzaneres, Toni Gallegos and Juliet Chavez.

Art has eight grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
